      img_20200424_192954.jpgHi All,

Following some good advice from my friend Tim in Mallorca who suggested I may have a few projects to complete before I start something new !!

      Here goes 😀

With time available some ships motor boats the HMS Cossack, still lots of detail to be added.

Mini Mist my 15" version of Vic Smeeds Silver Mist but made to fit an A3 drawing has now all the gear aboard now for water test when we are let out to play, this project had stalled because of my big fingers ! ! All well now 😀 hoping Martyn will use it as a free plan when the mag gets going again.

What ever I build next to will be named Furlough !!

Ray. good work on the mini boats. These very small detail items in wood are especially tricky. I spent more time on really simple pulling boats for the SansP than the rest of the boat (at least it felt like it)

Hi. Ray, that’s a job I have to do when I get back home, although small they are a big part f the boat

            Regards.

The ships boats on the SansP are a massive part of the models look, due to there being loads of them. Also in my case, there was not much on deck (below the boat storage) detail-wise because of the small scale so the boats are almost the big interest. Although all but two have nothing on them as they were just cutters and so on, getting them sanded evenly both sides was a nightmare!

                Hi Ashley,

You are right its the small items that make the ship come alive I bought my copy of MB's on Saturday from WH Smith's and see that your SansP was due to be in the next issue, really nice photo !!

                Regards Ray

WAS being the operative word Ray! Will be, I like to think. It is a very pretty thing, but that Victorian livery just hits all the right notes, in the right order!

                    Hi All,

On the subject of finishing models the word is we will be returning to our lake on 1st July (subject to approval) so my small boat yard people have gone into a flap with so many boats to test & commission !!

Here is my smaller 15" version of Silver Mist having flotation and motor run tests in the kitchen sink, very handy not even worth filling the bath all went well. she came from the scrap box with recycled running gear, but still cost £25 for the brass stancions.

Current list is ;- HMS Cossack, The Cigarette, Osprey, Commanche 32 which does float but no wind

And smallest is Mini Mist which was to be another A3 free plan at some stage!mini mist testing.jpg

                    I think I must find a hobby

                    Regards

                    Ray

Well done Ray…and on the water!!

You really cant tell what size these things are without a reference.
