Ellesmere Port Boat Museum Spring Model Boat show .2015

Just a reminder for those that can attend , The Ellesmere Port Boat Museum Spring Model Boat Show is 7th -8th March . As in past years trade and model clubs , the hyper scale tows { Some new BIG models for 2015} plenty of on the water activity Day and Evening sails . A show that starts the season . Plus the David E Owen competition for statically judged models always some spectacular models to drool over.

Hi Mike having cruised the waterways seeing all those narrow boats will bring back a few memories . It's a great venue for model boats mixing the full size with the models .The Museum is quite spread out as is the event I recommend some comfortable shoes .

Sorry Dave, but its pretty unlikely we will be there. We have been twice now and both times left in mid afternoon absolutely nithered.

Its a good venue for the event with the mix of models, sailing, boat trips and industrial archeology but it's very weather dependent. If it was held between May and September when the weather could be reasonably expected to be warm it would make wandering about between the different buildings quite pleasant. At the beginning of March its just too fragmented and too cold, not just outside but inside as well since most of the display areas are unheated.

Sorry to appear critical as I am sure the organisers work very hard to put on a good show, but at my age I like my creature comforts as well as model boats.

This Years spring Ellesmere Port show is shaping up to be a real cracker of an event there is a bumper crop of BIG models including a 9ft model of the USS Arizona the 12ft HMS Daring plus a brand new 12ft container ship . This event is one not to be missed.

Hi Bob it was a pleasure to meet up again and in such great surroundings . I noticed that the canal tugs where getting involved with the event , either putting on their own show or sounding off their horns each time they past the museum and of course giving us all the delight of seeing full size ships being helped along the canal . It was a wonderful weekend and the organisers did a great job.

Not sure why really not many posts , I was only able to go the 1 day this year butt thoroughly enjoyed it as usual, the day was over to quickly. Although classed as a commercial event it is more of a club set up and a place to have a bit of fun, with the added bonus of traders…

I like Ellesmere as its the first show of year and the time when model boaters emerge from their winter hibernation to show off their latest creations.

Its like seeing the first blooms poking out of the snow bringing the promise of a fine year to come.
