having forums such as Model Boats forum is an enormous help for people who want to design a boat kit for others to eventually build.
When i designed the original lifeboat kits of the Ann Letitia Russell Watson, and the Liverpool class lifeboat in 1994/5 and 2004/5 it was hard going as every step had to be written down and typed up, as each and every process was gone through and it fit.
Now, with such forums, the build process is noted as one goes along, and can be retrieved for future reference.
And this is what i am doing with my new "kit", a 1;12 scale small 16" working model of the RNLI D class rib.
The outboards I made and cast in resin for the original Clyde D class rib more than 11 years ago but the rest I have made over the past couple of days from plasticard, and milliput
And apart for the two centre control pods which will be printed 1.5mm plasticard., the rest of the fittings, and more to make will be moulded in rubber and cast in polyurethane resin for the D type lifeboats.
This is the start of a new kit buld.
i wont describe the development and build so far, except in picture form, as it would take too long. but if you have any questions, just ask……i'll try answering them.
