              Hi Nick

Sorry but I have no idea what the correct interior colour should be, but I always think that white is a good choice because it shows off the interior fittings to the best effect.

Ultimately I have always considered that the choice of colours is purely subjective and so your choice is just as good as anyone elses so if you want to paint it white then go ahead and paint it white.

wow nice build so far Nick i think they where white aswell but check anyway.

One last point if you are doing a white intirior get artist pastels or mig pigments and dry brush black pigments on the floor dont use to much and i won’t be "dazz" white

Nick, how do you plan to finish off the balsa work? simply seal / sand/ paint or paste paper/card on these bits?? I ask `coz its so difficult to get rid of the grainy look on balsa and you have a lot of little bits there!   Ashley

                                  Hi Nick

Ashley does have a point regarding the final finishing off of balsa as it is a very grainy wood that sucks up paint like a sponge, personally I use an all purpose spray primer/filler that clogs up all the pores in the balsa and gives a nice smooth painting surface. But then again I don’t use balsa much so perhaps Ashley or Bob might have a better solution.

Thanks for taking the time to look in i’m going to leave the interior as it is and for the top deck it will be blanked with coffe stirrers! as for the sides probably a thick primer over a couple of coats! i’ve also made some mager changes to shorten the boat as it was way to big the torpeodoes will now be stored in the same compartment as where the crew sleeps the stars are going with a simple ladder in it’s placeand the space will be more ammo.

I hope you like the new changes.

                                    Nick.

With all this computer stuff nowadays, a REALLY clever person could print the insides of a boat/whatever on to paper and glue this in place…or even print on to card and simply use the card and do away with the balsa. Where my band rehearses , the hall is used by a t.v company for rehearsals and they often have small card/foamboard models of the sets there,. These are ink lined and watercolour washed normally but look dead good, all done by professional modelmakers of course. Ashley

                                        Good Morning Ashley

I don’t know about youngsters like Nick or Martyn, who probably know everything about computers, but you have given me food for thought about finishing off boat interiors.

What band and what do you play?

                                        Paul……ex bass player

Computers are good but seeing as model is based on plans in my head it’ll be hard to find somthing that will go with what i want and it’ll use alot of ink and paper!

                                          Nick.

Paul, see my profile..!   I play sax, and run a glen-miller style big band. I normally use thin ply for boat construction, as the grain is much finer then seal with sanding sealer then undercoat/topcoat.  Ashley

Nick. As you are spending time on the interior detail, it might be an idea to seal and paint the balsa bits as you go, as access to them for sanding will not be available later on. Ashley
