Bow thrusters

For my next project I am considering making my own bow thruster – has anyone any first hand experience ?

 

The boat will be a Rig Supply Vessel the free MB plan of Nexus Tide but at 36″ long with 7½” beam ie about 1.5 times the size published.

Thats the sort of thing, just a bit concerned about sealing the motor shaft.
