        Evening Gentlemen,

I am an old builder and new subscriber (happily I might add). I recently traded for a set of plans for Bluebird which I’ve had enlarged to 1/12th scale. Problem is I do not have the original construction articles by David Metcalfe from the early 90’s. Is there someplace on the website where I can purchase these?

        Thanks

The Bluebird articles ran to 9 instalments from October 1991 to July 1992 ( there was one issue without an instalment) and I guess there are 60 pages or so in total. I do have those issues but don’t have the time to scan in 60 pages just at the moment as I am busy with the forthcoming Commemorative issue.

At least one of those articles is available from this Website, see:

but it may be just the initial October 1991 issue. I think the best thing would be for you to ring MyHobbyStore on the number given at the top of the page on the link given above and enquire just what is on offer and if it is just the one article, whether they can provide you with the remaining 8 instalments – it’s possible they will be able to do this.

If all this comes to nothing I can probably scan the pages in for you and put them onto a CD but it may take a while!

           Colin

Thank you Colin. I may have to take you up on your offer. Might have some of the articles coming next week from a fellow in Canada and I have one of them on the ships dinghy. The hobbystore lists 3 separate part numbers for the plans but little in the way of descriptions and I am loathe to make a transatlantic call.

amazingly, i was in a book shop in Weymouth last week called “BOOKS AFLOAT”,  and on their shelves, amongst thousands of other nautical books[ i was like a kid in a sweet shop and bought 3 lifeboat books] was a book specifically about  the real boat Bluebird of Chelsey.
there were a lot of details and photos in it ,if you are interested.
                neil.

Neil, thankyou. Yes I am very interested. Would have replied before now but was unable to access the site all weekend. I did try to find and email or website for the bookstore but alas, no luck. Nor was I able to find the book listed anywhere on google or amazon.uk. It must be an extreme rarity indeed.

I received the print articles from a Canadian modeler via email yesterday so you guys are off the hook Colin. Frame patterns have been cut already and I will be purchasing mahoghany for the keel this week. Can’t wait to see Mistral, Dumas Vineyard and Bluebird all together in 1/12th scale. Oh did I forget the Czech SL that I received prints for on Monday? A 54 inch honey that. Thanks for the help and support I have received from this group.
