Bandsaw blades

Due to me being a clot and not double-checking its size first, I find I have four brand-new bandsaw blades which are just too big for my bandsaw. They are all 1435mm x 6mm, thin gauge. Two are 24tpi while there's one each of 14tpi and 10tpi. New price is over £7 each. This lot is offered at £15 including postage to UK. Send a private message if you're interested.

ahhh, mate……that is unlucky for me………….on my last one out of 15 I ordered about 6 years ago…………but sadly I need [ in old money] 104" long or else I'd have snapped them up. sorry.

Do you have a friendly machine shop near you. When I was running one years ago we use to buy blades on a big coil and cut and weld to suit.

I can only remember on time when the blade subsequently broke on the weld.

I 're-found' the local company which I used to use when I worked for True-Line Model Aircraft in 1973/4. Their quote was over £11 per blade incl VAT with three days' welding time, so I ordered some from Just Bandsaw Blades and they should be here tomorrow for about the same price. Ray W has nabbed the ones which don't fit my current machine, so all is well.

I think I must have bought these blades for my Burgess 10" bandsaw which sadly expired a couple of years ago. Mind you, I found a lovely old Rexon BS10 – made in 1996 – for £40 on Fleabay which was fairly local and clearly well-loved by a recently-deceased old modeller. It's all metal with no silly plastic fasteners and a solid, machined cutting table. It runs like a well-oiled sewing machine and cuts dead true. Made in Taiwan!

Thanks Dave,

I must'nt mock my prize possession, bought this from a former engineering club member Tony Brooks at a bring and buy sale in 1990 for £15 😀 it has history as Tony built a steam powered Torpedo boat destroyer which competed in the Naviga scale competition in Russia in the 1970's the switch is broken but I'd never let the machine go !

It's on the left in my playroom.

I had one just like it but some scumbag ransacked my old shed and that was among the items he stole, along with a Dremel jigsaw, a box full of hand-tools and my drawing instruments and pens. My new workshop is a tad more secure! I replaced the BBS10 with the Record Power version but it was never as good.
