              Hi Paul

Could your requested picture be this one?

Railway Bridge in Reddish Vale, Stockport. known locally as the Sixteen Arches

This picture appeared on the front cover of the Stockport Heritage Magazine

This is the River Tame, which flows into Stockport to meet the River Goyt and form the Mersey

Amazing Bob. You should write a book about your activities!

Another one of Paul Thomason`s kinky designs was the mighty BRUTUS, a sort of modernistic Battleship

It was such an unusual shape, that I built it out of curiosity!

The build was great fun and went on for months, with plenty of banter and technical chat.

It was designed to plough through the waves, rather than ride the waves. It was called an Axe Edge ship, with a sharp vertical bow, reinforced with a steel wire. The aim was to part the waves in biblical style! See photos

It had a series of motors and ended up with twin brushless motors. I presented Paul with the craft later.

Paul resurrected the design. a couple of years ago and it appeared in the ModelBoats Magazine as a free plan, which I also built. the photo`s seem to be missing at the moment. Ah! I`ve found the file but can`t post the pictures as it would surely scramble this article.

…..and of course nowadays the latest in ship design technology has come up with the Axe Bow, which is designed to cut through the water with the minimum of effort.

Bob, when you look at this thread I'm not so sure it should be entitled "All My Model Boat Builds History" but more along the lines of: "All My History". You are obviously selling yourself very short as your career seems to have encompassed far more than just model boats.

                      Hi Richard

The thread was supposed to just my boat building history, but every now and then, something crops up that deserves a mention.

It is also surprising that I can recall all these far off distant memories?

It could be a sort of remedy treatment for memory lapses?

Getting things written down is superb therapy Bob. What I would also suggest is that you keep copies of everything you post just in case the forum ever looses it's archives or gets shut down.

Some of the best threads are ones that are allowed to wander off into the weeds and other contributors feel free to add anything they like. This is a perfect example and a joy to follow.

I`ve been thinking about what would happen, should the magazine cease trading? I think the Mag was in trouble a few months ago, caused by the Coviid problems I agree with you there, Richard

The Great Eastern story is a good example. The thread is truly enormous and is a true historic account, telling the story of the Atlantic Telegraph cable laying era

The story can be found, but the photos are missing

The photos exist but are elsewhere, if you know where to look

Will come to the story shortly

I built the MK2 purely out of nostalgia, as we has so much enjoyment building the original

The photos are a bit out of chronological, sorry for that, chaps

Next model to talk about is Vic Smeed`Silver Mist

An unusual shaped boat, pointed at both ends.

There are quite a few builds of this model, Ray Wood has built one and another friendly cha on the forum, but sadly. I can`t recall his name, my apologies, dear friend, hope to recall it shortly

I built my model twice the drawn size, for no special reason

The photos may be in reverse order

The completed model with two as drawn Silver Mists, picture is fiddled using Photo Shop

Construction photo. Some of the planks needed to be soaked to get round the tight curves, with heavy weights

hanging on strong cord, acting as clamps. Not a pretty sight

This was my first model, where I used a chain drive for the rudder mechanism and it looked very technical and worked well too

The full size boat took part in the Dunkirk Evacuation, I believe

The picture of the Arches is the one I was looking for, its really very good.

When Bob was building Brutus he wasn't aware of the true intention behind the design, Bobs construction and testing of the hull were all part of a process to produce a design for the Warship 2050 project.

I was very greatful to Bob and his totaly unbiased construction and testing as his work enabled me to fine tune the design.

Here`s another design by Paul Thomason

It`s the 40 inch version of his famous Gentleman`s Vintage cruiser

It was a lovely build, looks lovely bur has never sailed due to ill health at the time

The super structure is covered with woodgrain Fablon and is nice to use

Neat windows, the frames were coloue matched with Acrylic paint

I like to use Timing belt drives, they look the biz!

The roofs were planked and varnished

I fitted a small crane. like the full size craft
