Good looking model, great performance. Nice.
          Shame about the music.
(and no driver, but I wont mention that)

            Hi Ashley

It is a great looking model and I am very impressed with Dave's work. I have to say that DM is a far better builder than I am……….but that's because of his super deluxe workshop

Thanks, chaps. I'm very pleased with how she looks and performs. I'm just waiting for someone else to build one and show it on a forum or website somewhere. My Fairey Swordsman plan was published in 1999 and yet just this week I had a request for a PDF of it. These Alan Burnard-designed powerboats are timeless classics which will outlive any fancy Sunseekers etc.

Martin Davis very kindly took the video and added his choice of music. If it bothers you then just mute the sound, eh?
As for a driver – I gave up looking, and I'm completely hopeless at carving freehand/artistic stuff like figures. Find me a decent 1/16 scale driver and I'll fit him/her. No dolls, military figures or cartoon characters need apply. Then find me another similar one at 1/12 scale for the Huntress!

                Dave

Why wait for someone else to build one when yours is almost perfect.

I could do a 1/16 scale model of you to sit in the drivers seat and one of me for the co-pilots seat to get the balance right………mind you the boat would be a lot lower in the water with this crew on board.

                  I calculate 61gms extra, working on a reasonable (??) estimate of 125kgs each. Not a lot really…

Nothing is perfect, Dr Dude, even with a super deluxe workshop like mine.

                    Hi Dave

                    So 5 and 1/2 inch(140 mickey mouses).

Sorry Tasmania is so far away, I have over a dozen left over this size(I used 4 in the Sea Hornet) and are the right size for the mates Swordsman and the Sea Raven I am building. Check out a cheap shop in the kids section!!!humbrol crew.jpg

Sorry, mate, but to my eyes they are hideous. As I've said, I'd prefer having no driver at all to dolls or cartoon characters.

Maybe it was the 40mph in the Sea Hornet that did it!!!!

                        Can not be my driving!!!!

I can understand Daves position, joking apart, in that decent civilian figures are a difficult find.

However a bit of paint, surgery and filler can go a long way. Also, figures from the Indiana Jones series for instance can be good "normal" figures.

If anyone bothered to read my Alvis article you will have seen the base material for my army geezers, cheap but not over muscled troops. All I did was fill the screw holes in their backs/arms and then paint their heads and gave them an overall green finish and they looked more than acceptable.

I would imagine that any commercial figures would need to be multi-pose to seel in any quantity, as there is a need for drivers, seated passengers and also standing bods, and not too heavy..ie a 6 inch resin figure is a no-no on the weight front.

                            Hi all

Looks like a job for a 3D printer.

My ones are OK, but, I would like more real looking.

The Sea Hornet with no crew just not right.

I did get two others from a computer gaming shop, on special, I was not paying the full retail price of $20 AU(sale price $5 AU), the scary wrestling figures where $2 each.

It's that surgery and filler bit that always defeats me. Being a draftsman by inclination my curved lines always seem to end up straight!

                                Hi Dave…

A great read in the Model Boat mag, the two part issue was well done and enjoyed the build method and basic assemble.

I didn't realise you has such skills on the building front as well as being a tech wizard…

                                Best regards,

                                Ian
