Havn`t I seen some sort of “smart water” you can use for identification purposes? (but dont get the boat wet in case it washes off!)
Trouble with all this is ….how do you know a boat for sale at an antique fair or car boot /flebay etc is not stolen? the seller is not likely to provide a certificate by the police guaranteeing its not stolen, and how many items/boats are sold with a signed certificate or reciept guaranteeing sale authenticity? and these could be faked anyway.
A pictorial register of stolen boats would only be any good if everyone carried it around to i.d stolen merchandise. Its a bit difficult really. For such a minority sport as model boating (comparatively) any sort of database would prove to be too expensive to set up.
How about a regular column, however small , in the regular model mags advertising recently stolen items..or would this be too expensive as well in column inches???

It may help if poeple plastered their name all over the inside of the boats to i.d them once stolen? as to be honest, one Taymar looks just like another to me..
Ashley (having no boats worth that much for anyone to bother to pinch)
