Has anyone built this model from the plan and if so what construction details or approaches have been used. I find the plan somewhat lacking in detail and whilst I could make my own judgements I am looking for some experiences and approaches used.

Additionally the deck seems to be shaped rather tha n flat, is this normal for a boat of this size and type.

Any advice or tips would be welcome.

          Hi Vic,

I built this model from the plan in my teens shortly after it came out in the late 60s/early 70s. It is typical of the period in having little detail – there just weren’t the ready made fittings then. As to the decks, mine still has flat decks which is a simplification of the slight camber of the original but the bread-and-butter construction method of the model doesn’t help get camber in anyway.

Dare I say if you want a really detailed model then you could look at the recently released Hachette partwork with 140 parts at £6 each!

          Francis
