          no, not at all, Gary.
firstlythere should be instructions  with the article.
have a good read as with any instructions and work out in your mind what YOU think is being explained,
If then you don’t understand, come back to the site and ask…..as has been said before, the only stupid question is tyhe one you DON’T ASK.
I haven’t seen the article myself so can’t comment on the build but there will be plenty on her who will be able toassist.
But the best thing is to make that start, and then ask for help you are not sure of.
          good luck,
          neil.

            Gary,

If it is the Scarbh you are talking about then it is one of James Pottinger’s plans and assumes a degree of knowledge in translating the plan informatiion into the construction needed to build the model. A full set of lines and bodyplan is included which define the shape of the hull and from those you would need to construct a keel and set of frames which allow for the thickness of the planking. James gives some pointers to construction but not detailed instructions.

If you are keen to go ahead with this particular model then the best bet is to do a bit of reading up first on constructional methods. If you are not confident or want to get to grips with construction more quickly then you might be better off choosing something similar looking from the MyHobbyStore plans service with a plan that includes constructional detail from which you can more easily construct the basic hull components. You need to think about this quite carefully as if you do not have a good idea of what is involved you could find the build frustrating and unsatisfactory. Do you have any previous model boat building experience at all? If we know more or less where you are coming from we can pitch the advice at the right level for you.

Hiya I have just finished my first model but this had been started by my grandfather some 40 years ago. It is all wood but it is not a plank on plank construction. I tink I need a bit nore knowledge before I embark on the Scrabh plans. I think I need a book on hull construction first, pity but I shouldn’t run before iI can walk. I any one can recommend a good book I will be greatful.
I have enough wood to build about 4 models so I dont really want to buy a kit.

Neil is right in saying get started and then ask as you get stuck.
We all have access to this plan and can help at each stage of the build and don’t worry about asking questions (we have all been there)

                Good luck

Hiya just to keep you up todate, i have purchased 2 books,( Planking Techiques for model ship building) by donald Dressel and ( Ship Moddeling Soutions) by Brain King.
I will see how I get on with these as I have just realized that I dont even know how to follow a build plan properly.

                  Thanks for all advice
                  Gary
