      Hi Guys

I want to control two servos together, and independently, with a switch on my R/C 6 channel transmitter, how can this be done?

      Any help would be great

      Regards,

If it were this brand, there would be no problem – **LINK**

I wonder if you can buy the dual throttle separately?  And yes – here you can – https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/253935/

I did this for motor control on my fishery cruiser, it's a simple job.

Each motor has its own speed controller and these are connected to the RX to give 'tank steering' on the TX sticks.

A r/c latching switch is used to toggle the signal wire of the right hand ESC between its usual position and sharing the signal from the left hand ESC. (obviously this means cutting the wire to provide the alternative connections.)

The latching switch is operated from the undercarriage switch on the TX so by flicking the undercarriage switch you can either run the motors in tank steering mode or both together from the left hand stick.

The rudder continues to operate independently.

These days a mixer is usually a better solution as it incorporates rudder input and makes handling easier. There are various mixing mode options, see the specs on the Action mixers on the Component shop website.

f you are doing something different then the same principles apply. Use the switch to toggle between grouped and independent RX outputs.

Some people have been able to use the inbuilt mixing functions on upmarket TXs but this can be fiddly to set up and can involve reassigning channels to alternative TX controls.

                  Hi Colin,

                  Thanks for your input.

I only want to control the two servos together and separately for rotating masts on my model of the Ariel Tea Clipper, not motors. The Foremast and the Main mast will be controlled with one servo and the mizzen mast with the second servo to help steering but once under control the three masts should rotate together.

Going one step on from Gaerth Jones model Ariel.

                  Cheers, Hutch

In that case the method I have suggested should work OK then.

                      Many thanks Hutch…….I`ve learnt something

I never realised until now, that the Square Riggers rotated their sails to catch the wind

                      Suppose it`s obvious really

                        Hi Guys,Colin,Bob,

Colin, Thank you for the info.

Bob this one's for you "How to sail a Square Rigger "The Sorlandet Part 1

                        its on youtube.

Hope this helps understand square riggers.

My model will have a simpler set up with the Rear {Mizzen} most mast controlled by its own servo and the other two masts will share a servo, this is to make tacking/steering easier, but when just sailing all three servos will be controlled together , from one stick on the RC transmitter, well that's my idea I hope it works.
