      Fellow boaters,

I am on a search for a supplier of the Radio Active 100mm propshaft assembly with the 30mm 3 blade prop.

Cornwall shows them as out of stock. (They have the 150mm unit, but that's too big for my project.)

Howes Models has them in stock, but doesn't ship out of the UK. (I'm in the USA.)

A google search only gives me those two vendors- does anyone know of another vendor who may have them?

Failing that, are there other vendors that may have somethign similar? I'm looking for a lightweight solution for a small (15 inch LOA ) model……

Does it specifically have to be that particular brand? There are likely plenty of vendors who have the same size/shape/spec shafts local to you.

Over here some rather nice slimline shafts at Mobile Marine Models ( http://www.mobilemarinemodels.com/standard-and-specialised-shafts-137-c.asp ).

Try SHG Model Supplies. I'm sure they mail worldwide. They do M2 shafts and 4mm O/D tubes right down to short lengths – including 100mm [4"]. See Page 21 of their catalogue. You might have to look elsewhere for a plastic prop that size, or buy a Raboesch brass one, bushed down to M2 (also in the catalogue). **LINK**

Bill. These propshafts are very easy to cut down. Use an ordinary tube cutter, pop the plastic bearing out the cut off end (by using a rod or whatever pushed down the tube—they are not in very tight), use a fine rat-tail file to restore the diameter of the new end, and push the bearing in. Cut the wire shaft with pliers or whathaveyou. Easy. I would recommend greasing the shaft to stop it rusting. In fact, these cheap assemblies could benefit from a regular clean/de-rust and re-grease as they are NOT rustproof.

I want to express my appreciation to everyone who posted and/or contacted me directly– I learned about some vendors I didn't even realize were out there!

                Problem solved, order(s) placed!

                Thanks again, everyone!
