I recently read (somewhere but I can't recall the website) that the german RC company Robbe had gone into liquidation. Am I correct ? If it is correct then it is sad as it was a company that sold excellent products – I have a Robbe-Futaba F14 Navy 40 MHz transmitter which is unique as far as I know as it provides twin stick control for propulsion and provides multiple channels for control of ancillaries. Maybe Futaba will continue to manufacture this item ?

I was always impressed with that unit, and had thought of replicating it in a cheaper way by making a similar control box and installing a cheap Chinese 2.4GHz radio board….

I have just been on the "Cornwall" web-site and they claim that "Robbe have ceased trading".

Apparently, Robbe have gone out of buisness, however on the Ripmax web site they have been appointed as Futaba/Robbe importers, seems like they will still be in production.

Ripmax have long been associated with Futaba and long my this continue

Did try to change a T6J trany to the Robbe twin stick but it would have distroyed most of the board to get it to fit.

Converted my F14 Navy to 2.4ghz in stead

Cruising around the web looking for information about this and I stumbled on this. Too good to be true? A 2G4 radio with twelve switched channels for less than a ton? There's scant information about it but I wonder if anyone has tried one?

                  Dave,

Just had a look at that link – amazing 14 channels straight out of the receiver all for £96 and with the benefit of being 2.4 GHz !! With the 40 MHz (2.4 GHz is not an option)Robbe Futaba, the cost of the Tx/Rx is about £200 and then you need a number of additional plug in modules so the total cost is about £350. So the only question is whether the quality of Carson is the same as Futaba (I have been using the system for about 4 years and it is reliable). Incidentally I have used Conrad as a supplier – very reliable.

                  Well spotted Dave.

On the basis that you only get what you pay for then Carson won't hold a candle to Futaba for quality. on the other hand if you can put up with a basic transmitter (i.e. no computer functions) and additional channels which are all in effect on/off switches and not proportional then this looks like a very useful boat system, although I suspect it was intended more for RC trucks. It's a shame that detailed information about it is not easily found. BTW it's only ten switched channels, not twelve.

I'm just hoping that some rich philanthropist will read this, chuck in a hundred quid and let us all know what it does!

                      Dave,

                      I found a specification :

                      **LINK**

                      Technical Details:

                      Operating Voltage Transmitter 4.8 v to 6 v (4 cells)

                      2.4 Ghz FHSS-System

Two continuously adjustable fully proportional channels

                      Four on/off buttons

                      Three Switches On/Off/On

                      Three Switches On/Off

Servo Reverse for Channels 1 to 4 (reversal of the running direction)

Trimmers for Channels 1 to 4

Receiver power supply 4.8v to 6v (4 cells NiMH)

                      Graupner-JR plugs (connectors)

Charging socket (inner pole is positive)

                      Battery status led indicator

…… so I'm slightly confused as this says 10 non-proportional channels (switches/buttons) and 2 proportional channels …. but there are 14 channels (see photo of Rx) and the photo of the Tx seems to show 2 sticks which will normally have 2 axes each and thus a total of 4 proportional channels. Nevertheless, a useful bit of kit.

I think that maybe only two of the four proportional channels are "continuously adjustable", although I don't have a clue what that might mean for either those two channels or the other two. Inscrutable, huh?

Some Robbe products are now on sale from Krick. I put the text into Google translate and it would appear the range is to be expanded.
