       Hi Guys,
I need some advice on this.
I’m fitting the servo to my canal boat, its an Acoms AS11. As soon as the power to the receiver is turned on the servo moves a couple of degrees and emits a buzzing sound, as if something its preventing it from working. I tcan’t be moved manually when it does this.
However it operates normally, moving the rudder through its arc ,when the TX is operated. It does’nt appear to have an off/ neutral position. occasionaly it goes quite but starts again as soon as the TX is used.
Is this normal or is it a problem
      Any help much appreciated,
      Stuart M

The normal pracice is to switch on the transmitter before the receiver so that the latter has a signal to latch onto. If you switch the receiver on first then it can pick up anything going and result in unpredictable and possibly damaging action on the part of the servo.

Does it do the same thing in another channel on the receiver??

              Hi, Ashley.
I’l try that sequence of switching on, and yes it did it in the other channel to.
However the receiver and the servo came from a wrecked car ,the plug sizes are different from my sanwa servo’s and receiver power supply. so i think it has tamiya plugs and sockets. ( The present boat is an exercise in cheap! as my main focus is the loco’s)
The main thing was that I established that the TX was working. So i’ll probably replace the receiver and servo anyway to keep all the plugs to the same standard and all the bits interchangeable.
The idea is to set up on 27 AM with one transmiter for the loco’s and one for the boat (s) and get a range of crystals. so standardising would seem to be the way to go.
I’m starting to understand RC better now having played around with the bits of old kit.
              Thanks for the advice.
