My new project is an Aircraft Carrier based upon the Uss Abraham Linclon. I will be trying to incorporate as many features into it as possible as quite frankly they are rather boring to look at in model form in my opinion!
working anchor has been figured out, radar lighting etc. However I wanted to make working aircraft lifts and think I can easily do it with a servo, push-rod and simple box shaped end that lifts when rod reaches end of travel. … any other suggestions would be more than welcome.
my biggest problem Though is my RC gear is cheap chearfull flysky which was for my planes/gliders and heli. It works fine with the PT boat and destroyer, but unsure if it would be of any use for such as the sail-winch and one way then stop for the aircraft lift.
if not what radio kits are recomended that won't burst the bank? Sort of £100-150 region? Or is that going to be just as my flysky cheap nonsense? I figure 8 channels at most will suffice for this or any future builds.

A Flysky i6x has ten channels & has adjustable end stops to handle a sailwinch, plus a host of other features.

I use one myself for my yachts & powered boats. If an i6x cannot handle what you want to do, nothing else will.

Yeah, that's the one I use, never had issues with it and used it on cars to heli's. I like model select feature on it.

Stephen. Not entirely sure why you are building something you consider boring, however.

A point to consider is that the inner workings of the ship will be revealed when the lifts go up, or down for that matter, so some thought needs to be given to this.

Little motors to make helicopter blades go round is always good.

Send a PM to Stan Reffin who occasionally posts on here. He has built a Gambier Bay escort carrier model with working lifts.

I think Stephen is falling into the old trap, "cheap & cheerful" is the old motto of those who think, the more you pay, the better it is, Flysky may be cheap, but they have a better user interface, are easier to set up & a quarter the price of my Futaba T6EX, plus the only Spectrum I have owned, failed after 15 months 0f use, for a more expensive lay out, my Flysky i6x is now 2 years old, and has given me not 1 concern, it also has a stated range of 2 kilometers, which I have no reason to doubt.

Go and spend your money on more expensive gear if you like, but in my experience, you're just getting ripped off.

Yes I would agree with that ethos, the transmitter maybe more stylish but I'm sure the bits inside are basically the same

                    Regards Ray

There is winch system using end limit switches based on old designs shown on youtube which might give you some ideas…

                      End Stops winch

That's a nice system that video shows!

i really ought to learn properly all the functions on my flysky i6 as I'm sure as stated above its a capable unit and once I understand the switches etc will probably be able to do a lot with it!
Thank you all again so bery much for time to reply and help!
