      My friend Scott Pett of the Fairey Owners Club has passed on this E-Mail from Phil's wife Maureen for me to convey to all who knew or knew of him. To me he is the definitive model Fairey Swordsman designer and was a very successful multi-racer in the 60s and 70s until he emigrated to Australia.

      "It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Philip died instantly from a massive heart attack on November 23rd. We are all still shocked and will miss him immensely, but at least he will not have to endure the devastating final stages of Parkinsons."

      RIP, Phil.

          Sorry to hear of the passing of another great modeller from the 'golden days' of the hobby. Phillip did some excellent designs and written work.

            Like Tony, I do recall his writing in MB in Ye Oldene Days.

              He was a great bloke, and lead the way for many of us. I remember copying one of his early ' flaties', and putting an ED racer in it. It went like stink. He also paved the way for fast electric models, experimenting with different motors and batteries. He often wrote up his models for the magazine and we all learnt a great deal from him. He was also probably the first to make a fast electric scale model with his Brave Borderer boat.

              He was one of those rare people who really made a difference to the hobby.

              I'll remember him with great thanks.
