can anyone explain to me the basic wiring diagram or even better a picture for a boat ? I have built several rc cars and latest one has a 120a system but there no fussed . Never thought would fuse a model before ?

Also is there any way of wiring up a low battery warning device on a brushed system or anyway how to wire up a reserve battery ? I have a spektrum dx6i tx so able to use a switch to give another signal if it's possible ? All I can think of is a mechanical toggle type 2 way switch and a servo to operate via a linkage .

            Hi Matt

Dave is undoubtedly one the most experienced chaps in model boat electronics that I have ever met and his wiring diagrams are so easy to follow that even an electronic numpty like me can understand them.

But there comes a point where you have to bite the bullet and buy some components to put together yourself, its the only way that Daves wise words and diagrams make real sense and you benefit from the hands on experience. Then it all becomes clear and comparatively simple to carry out quite complex electronic installations.

Dave (when he was Action Electronics) has done all of the hard work as the majority of electronic installations these days are basically 'plug & play'

Thanks to you both , seems simple enough as build rc kit cars with brushless motors in .

Everything just seems so much cheaper but is there any actual reason to go brushless on a boat that you don't need speed ? Surely can just fit a bigger motor and nimh 5000 ma battery ?

The rc switches seems good but if have / battery's I don't see how will work during switch over be a point of no power , I'm thinking that be stuck in middle of pond as not switched over ! Is there a device that tells you low battery voltage with nimh battery's ?

                Hello Matt

If you are not building a super fast boat then there is really no need for brushless, As most of my boats are around the same size I tend to use any old motors that I have lying around. You could fit a suitably sized buggy motor if you have any spare.

For electronic bits like condition meters I look at places like Maplins or The Component Shop, the sites are very self explanatory and it means I only have to bother Dave (the bear) Milbourn with really complicated stuff.

As I thought Paul . I have a spare 8.5t brushless but that will go like mad I expect !
