Found a new use for my old tug recently, and now have a 'hobby within a hobby.' Lots of fun

          Hi,

Excellent footage, I like where you have mounted the camera the water line perspective shows off the models very well indeed. Is the camera expensive ?

Camera was $150. It is the latest model Intova which has 60 fps which lends itself to slowing down. Most of these films, other than ducks, are at 40% speed.

The footage is very clear for a small camera mounted on a model. I have used a very cheap Chinese camera (about £8) The footage of which I though was quite good. Although it was not water proof it, survive a dunk in my fish pond and still works after drying out. I am looking to get an action cam for bike riding my bike I will take a look at the Intova.

Is the trainable camera mounting your own design ?

The camera is one of these.

The intova is a competitor against the go pro, which is very expensive. They (it) is a full diving camera.

If you look at the specs it gives 720p HD, 720p HD (60fps), WVGA1 (60fps),which gives great resolution at 60 fps. If you have software to slow down 40%, your playback is at 25 fps, which is standard pal. Hope you get all that. I use adobe premiere pro to do the editing. It also runs on its own for 2.5 hours.

The movie for the web is good, but the original avi is brilliant. a gig long and terrific.

Yes I made the turning platform. I could draw it up if interested. It works brilliantly to set up a shot, but the boat and rudder are the best fine control. John

Thanks for that information John, My friend uses a go pro but his is tad un reliable, battery and memory card problems have let him/us down. I will definitely have a look at one like yours I may make a specific hull to mount it to…. mind you I do have a lot on my work bench to get done first.

                  Regards Paul

Brilliant, must be among the best model boat videos on the internet.

                    Thanks, Terry

Great videos. Nice perspective on the water.

Is it me or should power give way to sail?

                      Cheers Andy

Yes, the master of the sailing ship was happy about the insurance possibilities and proof of 'right of way' , but everyone was forgiving. Although when I showed them the video there was some shock and the violence of it all.

As long as no boats were hurt in the making of the video, I am sure any lawyer will be happy enough.
