      Calling all model boat electricians!.

I need to find a way of protecting two 40Amp brushless esc's from experiencing a possible stall current caused by one of the brushless motors stalling, i.e. stuck or jammed prop shaft etc. The two esc's are wired in parallel and fed from one 3S Li-po (5000Mah) . Can a fuse be placed in the supply from batt to the esc's, or are there other options that may be considered.

One of the esc's caught fire last week after a prop jammed, and before I replace any components I would like to include some sort of insurance policy if I can.

The model is a Robbe Sea Jet Evolution, and I'm using the motors that were supplied in the kit. Hope someone can help…

      Thanks

Dont see why a fuse shouldnt be placed in the battery supply to the esc`s… easiest way is simply to cut one wire, fit two insulated female blade type connectors on the ends and plug in a car type flat blade fuse of the appropriate viscosity for your voltage/current draw.

Hi To put one fuse in the battery lead means the fuse has to be big enough to carry both motor current , hence if one motor is jammed the fuse may not react (blow) quick enough to protect the esc's. I would fit a fuse in the supply to each esc/motor separately. This allows the fuses to be Smaller (electrically) and nearer the value the esc can handle, also if one motor does jam and blow the fuse them you can recover the model on the remaining motor

            Cheers Tom
