              Bryan

Oil is oil – except when you're cooking with it. Unless the stuff is very viscous then your silicone oil should be fine. It would be silly to leave it on the shelf and buy something else which might not be significantly any better.

                  Bryan,

I use water proof grease (food Lube) its excellent. I you want a small pot sending PM me and i will get your some sorted.

I generally fill a small syringe with the stuff and then fill the prop shaft tube before putting the shaft in.

Lasts for ages as it does not emulsify and wash out.

                  Brian

This was my last bike…Twist-grip 3-speed Sturmey Archer gears, contoured Brookes saddle et al. It disappeared while I was away at University in the very early 70s.

I'm also well-lubricated, although not with 3-in-1. More Old #7 Sour Mash. We live and learn.

                      Nice bike 😀

A Sturmey Archer with the small chain pulling out of the hub, I only had the lever gear change not the posh twist grip 😃

Blooming clever, haven't got a clue how they worked..

                      Regards Ray

                        Greetings Brian

The grease you mentioned is that the same as plumbers grease, ? I have never heard of food lube,I have a tube of plumbers grease in the garage that I had forgotten about . I may take you up on your kind offer.

The bike you lost was a proper bike , was it built with Reynolds 531 tubing? The best bike was the green Raleigh Roadster, it was very heavy but would last for ever.

As you say oil is oil

                        Regards to all

what is the makers name of the food lube you use, there appears to be many different types.

                          regards
