      Hi everyone,

I am sure I read somewhere that when soldering wire to stanchions, there is some form of liquid solder that you can apply to the brass wire or rod and touch the wire or rod with a soldering iron and the liquid flows into the joint.

Am I right on this or am I dreaming? If the answer is "Yes there is such a thing" can anyone tell me what the liquid solder is called and where to purchase it.

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any replies.

You may have seen it in my Brenda Fishery Cruiser article in Model Boats. Yes, it works like a dream!

The product you want is Carrs 188 solder paint. It is available from various suppliers..

          Antics sell it: **LINK**

But you may be able to find it cheaper elsewhere, prices seem to vary. I bought mine about a year ago from Squires of Bognor. Might be worth giving them a ring as I think the price was quite reasonable.

Alan , There was a company called Solder Connection Ltd from Chepstow who exhibited recently at the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition near Leamington Spa and they have both leaded and non-leaded versions of solder paint .

My thanks to Colin and Trevor for swift replies. Will try both companies suggested. Once again many thanks.
