Hello Richard and welcome to the forum.

Cut down the fleet !!1 yes. unbearable. Tell me, do you have them boxed up or are they displayed on a shelf (albeit in the garage)?? I find that boxing models is the way to go as they can be stacked, if nothing else, so saving space, and do not collect dust and so on over the years.

I know what its like having long term projects hanging around, you lose the impetus to finish them, despite, as in your case, having done most of the work. I have a 1:96 scale type 42 destroyer that sat in the garage for some 20 years or so as just a hull with running gear and superstructure, and was on the verge of binning it, but made a push to finish by buying just sufficient commercial fittings to add the necessary (guns, bollards, ships boats etc) to make it look ok without going to the full monty. Glad I did as the ship looks great and I just love the look of the stretched hull later 42`s, one of the reasons I bought the fibreglass hull in the first place.

As to quiet pond in the highlands???

            Ashley

Must be something in the highland water.

If you need some motivation to finish your model then here it is: I am a beginner but found the plans and the correct MB mags at a sale and have started to build a Sangsetia. Mine is a scratch build and I have just built the hull, it's not finished but you can tell it's a hull! I thought I would like to have it built by September which is the 30th anniversary of the mags publication. I have had a lot of good pointers from Dave Milbourn but would be interested in how yours is powered and if it has reached the stage of having been in the water.

I previously stayed in Elgin but didn't model boats then. I would have been going to millbuies park or somewhere like that on a week day rather than the cooper park or to one of the stills where they have on site fire reservoirs. Anything in bught park? Or some of the wee lochans out Dores way?

I see also that Peter is planning to build a Sangsetia so it will be interesting to see how everyone fares. My problem will be granddaughters for the school holidays and postage to the Western Isles, rather than lack of desire.

              Good luck, Steve

It doesn't work like that, Richard.

Have a read of the FAQs (Towards the bottom of the RH column on this page). Basically you set up an album on this forum website; upload your photos to the album, then you insert the photos from the album into your post. It sounds long-winded but it's not, and it works just fine for me.

You can reference a photobucket image via a direct link but the image link is actually buried in the references you have pasted. If I extract it thus:

                      http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu17/RSTA/Sangsetia/IMAG1299.jpg

It will then show up as

                      **LINK**

But you might have to manually make it a live link using the link icon above depending on what browser you are using as not all of them make an automatic conversion.

Quirk of the software I'm afraid. I suggest you either do what Dave suggests or simply put up another post listing the stripped down links.

Hi Richard, I too had visions of building an N gauge railway but like you was put off by the prices of some of the kit. I just kept thinking I could scratch build a model ship or boat for far less especially when using recycled materials. A little hard to do for an N gauge loco.
