Quick recap: I have a 12 volt 12AH battery hooked up to Mtroniks ESC and MFA500 motor.

For accessories I have 2 fans (one for ESC, one for motor), and seven lights. Both the fans and lights can run on 6 volts.

I want to run everthing off the main 12V battery.  Many here have suggested voltage regulators for the accessories, etc..  But here’s something that the bloke next door told me:

He say I can run the 2 fans directly off the main battery, but wire them in such a way (I can’t remember if he said “in parallel” or “in series”) that they each would in fact get 6 volts.  Do the same, he say, with the lights.

Can this work?  And, how exactly would I wire them?  If it works, could I then treat the 2 fans as the first unit, the 7 lights as the second unit, and then hook them up in the way (so that 6 volts goes to the 2 fans, 6 volts goes to the 7 lights)?

I hate the fans and the 500 on 12 volt, geared or not.
If you say what colours the leds are I can suggest a parts list  for diy.

You can wire the fans in series – daisy chaining them – but all that means is that they will share 12 volts. When you do this with electric motors you frequently find that one will run much slower than the other or maybe not at all because the internal resistance is in practice slightly different between the two motors even if it is nominally the same.

You can buy 12v lights or LEDs so no need for complex wiring setups there.

Where can I get 12 volt LEDs?  I can only find LEDs of a lesser voltage (2V-6V).

They have insufficient brightness for outdoor use.
You are best sticking to the high brightness types.
What colours and are any for interior lighting?
