Great boating last zsunday. Nice day, flat calm.
or at least it WOULD have been good were it not for a couple of issues with the two boats I bought down.
First.y HMS Midge, the 1890s torpedo boat after very quick spin became intermittant, and wiggling the battery connectors showed that the power was going off. Soldered joints on Deans ok so assume there must be some grub somewhere, and then HMS Hasty, the same era TBD was horribly noisy, looking like the complete steering servo was loose. I tried wedging foam in there which made it useable at very low speeds. On investigation at home, the glue holding the mount had partially dried out, so I pulled it off and re-glued it with Gorilla glue.
THEN Trevor’s Jet Dragonfly EDF had seized up due to some EzeKote having got inside after some previous waterproofing work last time. An unforeseen consequence of lengthening the sail servo arm stopped Rob sailing (there was little wind in any case)
That just left newcomer John, with a very impressive pair of 50s era iow car ferries to provide the days sensibleboating with trouble free and very smooth and quiet operation, well detailed with figures and period Corgi cars.
I normally take more that two boats, but starting off, it didn’t look as nice as it turned out to be. Such is life.
