      Hi All,

I completly new to the hobby and am looking for a R/C kit recomendation.

I would like to do a scale rc kit (preferably military but not a must). I have pretty much no experience what so ever.

I've been looking at some of the billings kits but I hear the instructions are not so good, this is a deal breaker for me.

Money is not really a problem within reason.

      Many thanks in advance

      Phil

Billings instructions (such as they are) are literally very sketchy in many cases. Deans have some nice models but they are not always good beginner's projects. I would suggest that you have a look at the Model Slipway range: **LINK** as their kits are excellent quality and the building instructions very clear so many of them are very suitable as first projects. You could email or ring them and ask for their recommendations – they are very helpful.

              Hi Larry,

Thanks for getting back to me, my modeling background is pretty much zero, I had a boat when I was very young, but ended up getting a friend of my dads to build it for me.

I think building one of a plan is a bit too much for starters, but the Fire Boat looks like something I could handle (especially if the instructions are good) and is in the right sort of price bracket for a starter boat.

                Hi Colin,

Hmm like the look of the KAWKAB fast Patrol boat.
I wonder if there are any of the kits on there or at deans marine that have been featured in the magazine and are good for a begginer? Have instructions and an article to read would be twice as good I'm thinking.

There are kit review features plus the digital editions of the magazine online but they are generally accessible to subscribers only. You can buy back issues where available if you know what you want and they are still in stock.

I have a subscription is there any way to search the back issues for reviews of certain kits?

There is no global search facility at the momend although browsing the covers can help.

A selection of kit reviews are available under the Features tab: **LINK**

As above, But I find this site very useful for finding information from unlisted mags. It only goes upto 2008 but goes right back to 1965, might be of some help..
