      When visiting Eastbourne the other day I was intrigued to see this dredger berthed nose in and apparently trying to transfer sand from further out to sea back on to the beach following the winter storms.

      It was quite an impressive sight and might give some ideas for model making. I suppose the equivalent would be to suck up mud from the bottom of the pond and spray it all over the sightseers!

          She goes there every year to de-silt the harbour.

            This wasn't the harbour but part of the main beach. Are you saying that the sand was collected from the harbour area and then added to the beach?

              Hi all, this is called Rainbowing. They take gravel and mix with water and spray on the beach, usually after storm damage. Some goodvpic of before and after out there. Seems the shipnis up and down the coast the whole time.

                Now thats the sort of fire monitor I would have liked to have fitted to my Yorkshireman wink Mind you , when I originally suggested that it might be fun to to surprise the kids at the pondside by firing up the monitors, I had my hand slapped for suggesting it quote " visitors might not take kindly to being soaked by pondwater" unquote. I know my grandkids were thrilled to bits when it happened to them!

                  Must be some pumping mechanism to suck up shingle and STUFF, then pump it out the top. Might be interesting to see what goes on under the water.
