I found some old ministry of information photos recently, mostly 10 x 8s and I thought they were too good not to share. There is no useful info to identify them with exept that the sub is probably a T class, the name might be thunder*****. The anti aircraft photo mentions the polish eagle on a helmet. I hope someone can help with identification, especialy the superfireing guns.

I have removed one photo as it was 'stuck' to one of the others. You need to leave a gap when posting photos I'm afraid!

The first photo would seem to be a destroyer of some type with dual guns.

The last picture is obviously a capital ship with superfiring turrets aft – possibly HMS Hood?

            Hello Colin,

I don't think it is HMS Hood – the photo has triple gun barbette.

Might be a town class cruiser ?

Quite right about the triples Shipwright but I don't think that the Towns had rangefinders mounted on the after turrets and the middle gun was set back from the others to reduce shell interference so I'm a bit puzzled and wonder if it is a British ship at all. Looks like a capital ship to me.

I 'll hazard a guess and say it looks like A &B turrets on HMS Rodney .

I think you are almost certainly right Dave. There is a photo in RA Burt's book on Btitish Battleships which shows detail very similar to that in the photo. If it is a British capital ship then it has to be a Nelson class.
