I have decided to sell my part built Highlander Clyde Puffer as I have spent a lot of time on it and I don't think that I will ever get it finished. The work I have done so far is to a high standard. It comes with all the original fittings contained in their numbered bags apart from the ones I have already fitted to the hull. The drawing is there, as is the supplied 4 blade brass prop. I have installed an MFA Torpedo 500 motor with 6:1 reduction gearbox and an aluminium smoke stack which I thought would look better than the one supplied. I will also include some Model Boats back numbers with build descriptions. It is to 1:24 scale and measures – length 33" (838mm), beam 9.5" (235mm), disp. 15lbs (7Kgs). It will all be contained in the original box.

I would like £295 ovno (it cost me £385 last year for the kit and then whatever the MFA motor cost me. If I get my asking price I will ship by courier for free, fully insured otherwise I would charge a fairly nominal £10 (UK mainland only).

My apologies. I have just realised that I have called it a MOUNTFIELD model when, in actual fact, it is by MOUNTFLEET. (brain not working very well).sad

Shame you have to sell it, it's a really nice kit and you've made a lovely neat job of it so far.

Many thanks for your kind comments Richard. I have always tried to build to a good standard right from the first model boat I ever built – the Caldercraft Imara – many years ago but I am now beginning to realise that, at the age of 87, time is definitely catching up with me.sad Along with Terry Small we did a review of that one for the magazine but, for some reason, it was never published.

Probably because John Cundell had already commissioned me to review it. Sorry!

Thanks Colin, will take your word for it. It was a long time ago, probably fairly soon after Imara and Marie Felling were brought out and in the days before computers and email.

Yes, I was simply asked to do the review. I have no idea what the background was, As you say, a long time ago.
