                    Hi Cas

I'm sorry to say but you are being optimistic, if you search through ebay you will find a number of basic examples of this particular model and historically they never fetch much more than £100

For a really well made, highly detailed and fully fitted example you might expect around the £200 mark.

                    Hope this helps

                    Paul

Speaking for myself I and if I were bidding on ebay my maximum bid would be £55 for your boat.

Paul & Captains Log, a wee bit unfair on Cas there! I would have gladly given him £200 for it had I seen it in time. Speed controller, chargers and batteries would have been best part of £100 then 2.4 ghz transmitter & reciever and all other bits? Then the boat which with a little work could be a cracker £55 is taking the P— but they are only worth what someone will pay I guess. Glad it sold Cas and I personally thought you were reasonable.

I am pleased that Cas sold the boat for an acceptable amount.

Regarding your comments I would like to say that an opinion was asked for and I gave my thoughts as to the value which I qualified as being a purely personal estimate which was based upon what the model would be worth to me and the work involved.

It is always worth remembering that the sum of the parts might not be same as the value of the whole as it depends upon how those parts are put together.

                                Hi Cas,

I am new on here myself but have done a little buying in my time and did feel you maybe needed a second opinion. As Paul so correctly states above, it is all down to personal opinion.

I did not however, post a comment to either score brownie points or spark confrontation, so I am also very pleased that you sold your boat for what I consider to be a fair price and more importantly one that worked for you. Some people neither have the time nor inclination to build a boat from scratch but just want something scale to potter on and improve when able to, and your boat seemed to fit the bill.

                                Paul,

I had a look at some of your boat pictures and it seems that you have both the time and the creativity to produce some fine work. If you ever want to sell any I would be happy to bid and you may be surprised as to what they may be worth to someone like me, depending of course how well they are put together.

No insult intended and none expected.

Thank you for you kind comments, I also didn't intend to cause offence and I apologise for my blunt speaking.

In my original posting I was trying in my hamfisted way to prepare Cas for disappointment should his model not reach the value that he expected as I have also suffered the same feeling after an ebay sale.

                                    Hi Paul,

I understand where you are coming from now. And no need to thank me as your boats do look very good. I am new to the RC scene but have built many statics over the years, all from kits, but I am desperate to start some from plans, just the time is a problem with work and a toddler.

Your large cabin cruiser, was that scratch built from a plan and what is the length of it?

That boat was scratch built and was over 6ft long.

hi paul, dean cas, sorry i havnt posted earlier but i just got back out of hospital yesterday after another op, 1 day they might put it right face 21 and they wanted £10 a day to log in to the internet grrrrrrr whats that all about. Anyway cas and dean I didnt mean any offence or harshness about cas`s perkasa, just like paul I was only expressing my own opinion on the value from my own thoughts and experience. no offence meant cas and i am glad you sold it for what you wanted. When someone builds something themselves from scratch/kit and then manages to sail it then that in itself is something to be proud of. I remember my first boat? a plastic submarine kit rubber powered smiley in 1971 (cant remember the kit mnfct.) but it was about 8 inches long i think and sailed and dived in the bath using the periscope as a vane to operate the fins at the bow to surface and dive. 1st misshap was a snapped elastic band, dad had to saw off the bow and stern to fit a new 1. Next was a trip to roath park pond, I let it go it went down lovely like, problem was it never came back upsad. Never looked back since and i`m 51 now lol. happy sailing and selling every 1

                                            Hi Paul,

Many thanks for the link, looks like the same boat! Could be mistaken, I will keep my eye on it but have just put an offer on 2 sailing boats that I quite like(a Schooner and a Brig). Not told the wife yet either, Oh Bugger! trouble at mill and all that.

Captain, sorry to hear about your troubles and great story about your sub, I can just picture your face when it never re-surfaced-heartbreak!!!

                                            Hope your better soon.
