Ahhhhh – thats the one. Its about 3 metres from the bottom of the keel to the top of the mast. These hulls were only made in OZ and they are highly sort after.

Welcome to the Forum. An interesting boat, looks like you need a deepish pond to sail it in though.

                Hi,

These 2 footers as they are known were actually sailed in Sydney harbour from around 1900 to the early 1950s. It was pretty serious stuff, the skippers of the real 18 footers would sail these in the winter. There were a number of clubs offering about a weeks wages as first prize, there was also some pretty heavy gambling on the outcome too.

These boats were only made and raced in Sydney and no 2 are alike as the only rule was the length of the hull – different clubs raced different sizes – 2 footers, 18 inch, 1 footers, 10 inches, and 8 inches. As long as the hull was the correct length you could do whatever the hell you liked in all other aspects.

A really good 2 footer in original condition will set you back about 10 to 15k – having said that I dont know of any for sale – they are very hard to find.

                Heres another 2 footer.
