May I say how much I enjoyed this years special edition – Materials & Techniques. Not only was it interesting reading I found plenty of tips to help with my model building. Also found the Plans special of great interest too. These two publications have gone a good way to rekindling my interest in building a model.

I did set out to build the HDML sometime ago but had a disaster with a bottle of Plastic Weld and the styrene hull (Big ooops) plus at the time I had had some ongoing probs due to work and family issues resulting in my modelling interest waning some what. However things all round are on an even keel and I am clearing the decks to get back into my favourite hobby.

Sorry to go on but I just wanted to thank all concerned for their sterling efforts in bringing us a great magazine.

      Thank you

      Dave

          Hi Dave,

Glad you enjoyed both Special issues. Paul Freshney puts a lot of effort into giving the regular issues of the magazine a wide appeal to the model boating community and his annual Winter Special issue provides an opportunity to tackle some subjects in depth as on this occasion with the use of common model making materials which I found very useful myself.

The annual Specials that I have been editing enable a more tightly themed approach which means that we can include material which it might be difficult to find space for in the more broadly based regular issues. It looks like we will be seeing another of these next summer and I am hoping to put the spotlight on particular aspects of scale modelling in terms of subjects and modelling resources available to support them backed up by associated feature articles by acknowledged expert model makers, some of whom are regular contributors to this forum – but I mustn't give too much away just yet!

Thanks for your reply Colin. I do agree, Paul is doing a great job of editing what for me is the best model boat magazine on the market. I have been a subscriber for quite a few years now and always look forward to the next issue even if I am not activley making models.

Next special sounds interesting I am sure it will be another good'n

            Dave
