        Hi Alan,

It’s really just a fun thing and has no significance yet other than that.  We do have future plans for it though!

          Thanks Vinnie,

Being relatively new to the website, I just wondered how it worked. Glad you use the word ‘fun’ as this is what model boating should be all about.  While I’m here, I assume from your imput, that you are associated with the production team at Magicalia, since discovering this site I am totally hooked, I check it out regularly and really enjoy the content.

          Yours Aye …. Alan

            Hi Vinnie

We, the long established old school members, are all agog to learn all about the future plans to which you refer as, whilst we enjoy the fun, a little competitive spirit would add some spice to the site.

Like Alan we are all totally hooked on this site and derive great pleasure from it, and I for one am hoping that the management will be able to do more to help raise its profile.

            Over to you Vinnie

            Paul

              Hi Paul,

First and foremost I’d like to get the forums moving. Over on Military Modelling, we get hundreds of new posts per day…and while I think we’re a long way off getting that sort of movement here, the community is certainly there to attain this.

The biggest problem I have in getting things moving here, is that as I’m sure you’re aware, model boats isn’t my primary hobby, and consequently I’m all at sea over here (pardon the pun!). Whilst on Military Modelling I receive lots of new products to post reviews on, and things to give away as prizes etc., on here I have almost no contact with traders, depsite trying.

Development of the forums themselves, brings in new material as people post build articles etc., in the forums that can then be converted to articles for the site, and if they’re good enough, then they may even be published in the magazine.

In the very near future, the forums are going to be re-arranged, with new headings etc., and also the gallery is going to be revamped, with a much more intuitive method for putting pictures into posts etc., All of which is designed to try and get users to use the forums more.

There are of course, more plans in hand, but that’s enough to be going along with!

              Vinnie

                Vinnie

Despite my occasional and good natured "digs" at you regarding this site I fully appreciate the amount of work involved, especially after visiting the Military Modeling site, in getting this site upto that level of participation.

I think that it is in your favour that you came to this site as a "true novice" and with no fixed agenda and therefore had no preconceived ideas about model boating otherwise we might now be bogged down in a single subject i.e. plastic kits, and in this we should all be grateful given your acknowledged expertize in the military branch of these models.

I am sure that all us old hands will give you every help and assistance in developing this site especially with reviewing new models, if you manage to develop those contacts, and who knows perhaps some of us will get around to writing a few lines of text (how much do you pay for these?)

It might be an uphill struggle getting the forums moving but we are all behind you

                All the very best

                Paul

                  Hi Vinnie and Paul.

So, to expand this thread a little further, what is the history for this site? I remember checking it out down at my local library before I had this broadband. That was some time ago and If I remember, it was a much different format than this one. Being an old hand myself when it comes to model boating, I do recognise some of the names that appear in the forum and in the gallery but a little background about this new site would be interesting and informative.

                  Thanks      Alan
