The good news is that I finally took delivery of the new car, the bad news is that two 3ft RAF Fireboats were stolen out of Jane's car along with my laptop on Tuesday night.

Please let me know if you come across them.

          Oh dear, Paul

They may be spotted on EBay or local regatta's etc

The IPad is a serious blow though

Paul. Commiserations on the loss of your stuff. It is gut wrenching feeling when you find that some bu##er has stolen your property, likely the boats were just taken as a by-product of the laptop theft.

I make it a point of never leaving anything in the car unattended. It is very easy to leave stuff in there. Make it rule no1.

Very sorry to hear of the theft Paul but, as Ashley says, never leave anything in sight in a car unattended. Was Jane's car damaged as a result of the break in?

It is a case of simple stupidity on my behalf as I fully intended to bring the laptop and boats inside the house…..but I had another senior moment and forgot all about them.

Damage to the car is limited to a broken rear window.

The biggest loss was the computer as it contained all of my CAD drawings and even though most have been backed up I have lost my latest project of Dreadnought 2050.

                  Paul,

Sorry to hear you lost your stuff. Does the cad software store copies in the cloud or is it stand alone?

Have you got the police involved?

                  Andy

                    Hi Andy

Its a standalone CAD system with a manual backup (which I haven't done for 6 weeks) Police were very good but apart from a crime number there is very little that they can do. The computer is useless without the 12 digit password

My only hope is that someone spots the boats at a carboot sale or they popup on ebay.

Sadly no. Thefts like this are not actively pursued; there are just too many of them and too few rozzers. The best you can hope for is a bit of sympathy from PC Plod while he drinks the tea you made for him and gives you a Crime Number to pass on to your Insurance Company. The it's "Evenin' all" and you hear nowt else…..ever.

Nothing much changes at that depth in the pond.

Thank you all for your kind support but as Mr. M pointed out the theft of model boats is far down on their things to do list.

The boats are probably resprayed and on their way to the Middle East crying
