Does anyone here happen to know where one could find aluminium angle ("L-profile" ) in very small dimensions?

The smallest I've been able to find, on the net or over the counter, is 1/16" thick, and measures 3/8" x 3/8" (or with similar, metric dimensions), while what I'm looking for should be more like half that size, i.e. +/- 1/32" thick and no larger than 1/4" x 1/4" (slightly smaller would also be fine).

Does it have to be aluminium? Well, yes and no; I already have a suitable size brass angle to hand, but would prefer the piece to match another piece of metal. For a perfect match, it should actually be matt chromed brass (!), but as that is not summat I'm likely to stumble upon in a hurry, aluminium would come that much closer than brass that I'd much prefer to use that than brass.

It is actually for a small DIY project around the house, rather than model building, but as the dimensions fall well within model material sizes, I thought it might be worth asking around here …

That is an interesting idea, but, alack and alas!, I fear it would most likely not do; while the angle shall not bear any load, it is intended for reinforcing a short piece of corner on a door that opens (and mainly rests) against a stone mantel shelf, and should be able to withstand the occasional knock against the stone, at least better than the current wood of the door frame which has a small dent corresponding to said mantel shelf.

Paul, I had thought about rebating (for which I might also use some square or even narrow, flat section), but would still prefer the piece to be slightly less in your face than the 10 x 10 mm which is the smallest one I could find at the DIY shop.

That does indeed look as though it might do the trick! As I only need a short piece (+/- 1" ) it shouldn't be too tricky to grind off the uneeded sides …

Indeed — that's what I meant by "I might also use some square […] section"; the main difference would be the amount of wood to remove for the rebate, although I think that a square section would also have the disadvantage of being slightly more easy to push out of position by an oblique application of force, whereas a rebated angle subject to similar force would just be pushed against the underlying wood that, as it were, "fills the square", if you see what I mean.

Anyway, it all remains to be seen; it is not all that urgent, given that the door in question has already spent 63 years doing its job with no worse damage than a slight indent where it comes to rest against the shelf …
