Was looking on the Antics site for a sailing ship for my old mans xmas box. Having started the cutty sark airfix 1/130 myself, I thought something like the victory or wasa would be ideal for him. However, take a look at the following antics advert. Airfix 1/130 cutty sark GIFT SET 50045 £29.99 220 parts 775mm loa including 18 paints and 2 brushes.

next we have, Airfix cutty sark 1/130 KIT ONLY 09253 (paints and other stuff req to build) 220 parts 520 mm loa also £29.99

my point? apart from the box art being different why the size difference and what would it cost me to buy 18 different cloured acrylic paints? both sets the same price? also last time I looked at my current model and also online reviews I only required 5 different colours. any comments? or have I missed something? cheers and merry xmas everyone

the discrepancy could be in which lengths were measured……….the longer one taking into account the Bow sprit, where as the shorter one could be just hull length.???
