Yesterday and earlier today, I was having problems either creating or even adding to threads here on MB. It just closed down when I submitted it! Eventually, it ocurred to me that the computer had automatically upgraded to the latest Internet Explorer about a week ago. I wondered if that was causing the problem. I have just tried it again with good of Firefox that is installed in my computer as well, and now everything is A OK!

You’ve been “Billed”. Avoid Microsoft whenever you can.

I haven’t been billed. The internet Explorer just updated itself – I never asked for it.

“Billed”, as in suffered at the hands of Bill Gates. Sorry, a little obscure perhaps.

Yes, that’s true enough. The new “improved” version does not work as good as the old one. That is why I keep Firefox in it as well.

I had the same thing, a few weeks ago

It is a new version of “Explorer 7”

I`ve got used to it now!

The problem is that the website text editor is a bit long in the tooth and can’t keep up with all this leading edge technology. See the bottom of the FAQ page for compatibility with IE9.

If you use IE9 you may have to set compatibility on every time you log in to be able to post etc. However, I am assured that an updated text editor is to be installed on the website in the near future and hopefully this will resolve the problem.

Doh, so it’s a W3C compatibility issue. The whole internet world agrees standards for web browser functionality, you pay for a text editor to be written to those standards, and Microsoft chooses to ignore them completely. Oh how I lurv Microsoft!

To be fair, the current text editor has its little ways, as I know only too well from updating the website! It’s not all down to Microsoft.
