What do the membership think about individuals who make multi postings about every subject?

          Welcome back, Fatman!

          Why do you ask?

We`ve both had our share of web hoggin` in the past!

No harm done in my opinion?…………..I feel sure, Colin would welcome a few more long chats, as the website seems very quiet these days

We wish you would hog the web a lot more, Paul!

          Finest regards……..Bob

PS…….Where`s Phil Winks these days?…….Still on holiday in Wales?

Not sure exactly what you are referring to but I think good on anyone who posts. There are not really that many people who post on the forum when you look at it. I think the more posts the merrier, that way there is more chance of everyone finding something that they are interested in.

Hi Back again, even hotter here than it was in France. I spent lunchtime sitting on Calais Pier eating my sandwiches and watching the ferries sailing in and out. Of course we came back on Norfolkline from Dunkerque….

What I have noticed onh the forum is that while there are relatively few people who post, (and thank you Gentlemen). there seem to be an awful lot of people who just pefer to ‘lurk’as the term has it.

The more people we have actually getting involved, the better the Forum will be so don’t be shy folks, your input is as valuable as anybody’s. The only stupid question is the one you didn’t ask so please don’t hesitate before jumping in.

Colin has hit this particular nail on the head.

After an enforced absence I have returned to find the same few people are still taking the time and effort to keep this site alive and yet I wonder if some of the ‘lurkers’ are still waiting to pounce and find fault.

The “Lurkers” are always ready to criticise, Paul, and usually contribute nothing. It’s best not to take too much notice of them.

Unfortunately if some members didnt multi-post,  some topics would sit there with no replies whatsoever.

Nothing worse than sticking a post on to see that no one is interested!

Perhaps we should be multi posting on this post, eh?? what would it mean if NO ONE posted on this post?

In respect of “Lurkers”, it’s easy to be macho from the safety of your back bedroom. I post in good faith and if anyone chooses to pick holes in what they think I’ve said then let ’em get on with it……’cos that means they have to stick their heads above the parapet (so to speak).
Bring ’em on, say I – and welcome back, matey.

I sometimes wish we had more people who posted regularly but I enjoy the contributions of those that do. It has been a bit quiet lately but presumably folk have been out and about, maybe even sailing boats. As for lurkers, it’s rather an unfortunate term for what is a fairly harmless activity- I’ve done my fair share of lurking!

Being a new member, I tend to post where I can offer advice. I have put up two threads personally and had no response, but then they have been odd threads lol.

It is frustrating when no one posts but then I am used to it owning a car club. the way I look at it is that members have lives to live and if like me, do not get much time online. The main thing I have found out from owning a club and forum is that people tend to watch and learn how the forum works and also how its members work, Iknow I do this when first joining a forum, and this allows me to make sure I don’t upset the wrong people and the way the forum works.

Well that was my 2p worth on the subject.

That’s a good point Nevins about getting the ‘feel’ of the Forum before jumping in. I also think there are lot of people who benefit from the matters discussed here but perhaps don’t feel they have anything useful to contribute wnich could be a wrong assumption as we can all learn from one another.

What I have noticed is that we get a very healthy response to the competitions on the website – so they are out there!

Getting more people to participate sparks off a snowball effect as it encourages even more to join in as they see matters being discussed that are relevant to them.

Im not sure if its the same on here, I still have not had a good look at every part of the forum, but on the supra forum and on my forum, we have a new members section where new members introduce them selves and basically start a thread where they can be greeted and generally get to know members.

As already said there might be something along the lines of this on here.

                                  Here follows a post from a ‘Lurker’…
I personally agree with most of the posts on this thread, especially that of nevins. I am also fairly new to the forum, and whilst i do visit the forum regularly and read the latest posts, on all threads, with interest, my main area of interest is in the steam section (see my recently built Krick Victoria!) Unfortunately the steam section does not share quite the same ‘hit rate’ as other sections, so my input will naturally be lower.
Another reason why i personally do not comment on many threads, is because the level of experience i have in modelling in general is less than that of many of the members of this forum. I do however enjoy ‘browsing’ through the threads, and am sure many others do too.
Anyway, happy boating guys, enjoy the sun (down the south of the UK anyway!)
                                  Pete
