Model Boat Convention 2015

A reminder that the theme of this event being held for the 26th time at Haydock Park on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August 2015, is 'Glynn Guest Models'. Glynn is the Guest of Honour for this event and there is a special competition for young people up to the age of 16 building a model from his plans. Full entry information is on the Model Boat Convention website, together with how to obtain the UTE plan (February 2013 MB) free of charge. The superstructure of this is adaptable to whatever the builder chooses and is therefore ideal for young people.

A basic wood pack for the hull is also available from MyHobbyStore. Entries must be via the Model Boat Convention and its website: http://www.modelboatconvention.co.uk

The chuckle brothers have every intention of being there again……. only this time we will have more boats.

This year we will be taking part in the competitions and submitting some of the models for judging.(so the bar will be set very low this year)

Looking forward to this one.

I wrote the information cards in a large text so the visitors could read them without having to get to close, short sightedness and sticky fingers don't mix with model boats.

Paul. Thats fair enough and a very good point.

Fo the mex show I had cards on the spotlamp poles at the sides, for easy viewing, or I simply pounced on anyone who showed the slightest interest!

Hi Larry

If you like large just you wait for this years display collection.

I have asked Arthur for the same spot near the door and an extra table just for Bobs Lady Joyce.

I am also supporting the chandlery facility this year and expect to be selling twelve boats, its better than ebay as the fees go to help fund the event.

Some of the boats are being sold to raise money for the charities that I support SO COME AND SPEND.

Haydock fever has hit and its still three months away

I had a very excited grandson telling me that he has sent off for his copy of Glynn's UTE plans and that a very nice lady has sent him an email confirming his entry in the competition.

He is already busy with pencils and ruler designing his version and because it has to be all of his own work he wont even talk to me about it and is scribbling away behind closed doors.

Ryan wont let me anywhere near the project and is determined to do it all by himself.

One thing has puzzled me though….he has been researching water jet motors.

All of the electric motor powered water jets that I have seen don't produce enough power to compete with brushless & traditional props.

So far the only water jet that came close was a petrol powered unit.

Ryan has just been researching carbon fibre!
