I am now building a simple collier brig, circa 1809. I have worked on it for 7 days now, with a total of 13 1/2 hours work. That includes assembling the display case and making the inner sea base. . The next task is to fit the sea and seat the brig in it before starting the rigging (The masts can still be removed at the moment). It is not all that far off completion now, as it will be shown at anchor with furled sails, and with only three yards on each mast, the rigging will be simplicity itself – Bob

Today, 9th February, 2018, I got quite a lot done. Started French Polishing the sea surround. Made and painted the sea. Made and painted all six yards. Fitted rope coils and lines to the inside of the bulwarks and fife rails. Fitted the furled spencer and spanker. Fitted the fore-stay, made and fitted the fore and main lower mast shrouds and ratlines. I had intended this to be the first simple constructional chapter in a new full-sized book on miniature shipbuilding. Unfortunately, various "feelers" put out to "test the water" on this, have brought zero response, so the book project has now been abandoned! Instead, the constructional document for this brig will appear shortly as one of my low-cost practical shipmodelling downloads, that have proved very popular over the past three years or so!

The topsail & t'gallant yards, together with their furled sails, have now been fitted. Only two furled jibs and the Bentinck boom have still to be fitted, the rest is just rigging.
