Hi,I am looking for plans for the Fleetwood pilot schooner Falcon.

They are listed in David Mcgregor plans at the Brunel University plans ,but I don`t think you can copy yet. This is a long shot but maybe someone may have

some or know what is happening with plans.

I believe that the MacGregor plans are now available, or some of them are, so it is certainly worth making an enquiry.

Incidentally, it is the Brunel Institute, not the University:

            Colin,

I spoke to a nice lady a couple of years ago and she said they were working on it.I really wanted to know

if anyone knew of any plans and if there had been any movement.I shall inquire again. Thanks for the correction.

            Regards Bill.

That was right a couple of years ago, but I have been in contact with the Institute earlier this year and got the impression that things have changed. I believe that the plans are now at least available to view but not so certain about reproducing them.

              You can only ask!

                Hello William,

I recently bought two McGregor collection plans from the Brunel Institute, and from what I understood when I spoke to one of their staff on the phone, they have by now digitised the entire collection, and are more than happy to provide them to anyone who is interested.

The cost is £10 per page, plus p&p for sending them to you on a cd-rom in the form of full size, high resolution TIFF images that you can then have printed on paper at any copy shop able to handle large enough paper formats, as will for example any place geared towards architects and suchlike.

                  Hi Mattias,

Thanks for your message, the pilot boat Falcon is pretty rare but it concerns my hometown and I have wanted to model it

for years.I have a script of an old man who sailed on her and a complete list of her sails, spars ,blocks and ironware.

I have 3 photos but I do not want to guess her underwater shape.I will be in touch with the Institute as soon as ,possible.I am just completing a scottish fifie as a sailing model and want another sailing model.

                  Regards Bill.

                    Hi Bill,

You are very welcome! I hope you will be able to get those plans — from what a quick google turns up, the Falcon looks like a very attractive subject indeed.

                      Kind regards to every one,

I have been in touch with Brunel Institute and they have the plans of the Falcon so I am about to order

them today. As a matter of interest the lady,Phillipa, tells me they have digitalized over 7000 plans,so it may be as

well to search their plans for future projects.

                      Regards Bill.

That's good news re the plans then, it certainly offers up more choice. However, do be aware that on some of those drawn for working models the hulls are sometimes deepened to accommodate the rather heavier gear that was common when they were first drawn up. Worth checking the plan against any published dimensions you may have.

                          Hi Colin,

I am not really worried if it has extra depth,I am just pleased to have the drawings.I have wanted to make the

model for a longtime and these are the only ones I can find.It will be a working model so it does not make a

lot of difference.I now understand why the model of the Reaper I made from Pottinger plans is deeper than one

my friend made with a fibre glass hull.

                              Yes Neil,

she is about 66 ft long and I will make her at 1/24 scale,I like to work metric 12.5mm to the foot,so about 810mm.

Just about right for the car and lifting in and out of the lake, not as supple as I was.Really glad I found the plans,

I have been looking for them for years

                              Regards Bill
