And yes my name is Bodger, motorcycle mechanic fitter. I’ve lived with it for more years than I care to remember.

Robin, I'm afraid I have no idea what a mas500 is but your post has brightened up my Friday evening! Cheers, Steve

The mas 500 was an Italian torpedo boat. I think Robin needs an idea for a brush less / lipo/ prop installation for a 28 inch model. Not my territory, so over to those who do like to go fast.

I too don't know what a MAS500 is but I'll assume that Chas is correct – I've not caught him out yet!

I have brushless installations in my Huntsman and Huntress models, which are 24" long. One of these comprises of a Leopard motor **LINK**

                a 30A speed controller (Fwd+Rev) **LINK**

a PropShop 1315 Standard Scale 3-blade RH bronze prop **LINK**

and a 3S 2600maH LiPo battery pack **LINK**

I think this would be a pretty good place to start. You might find that a smaller racing prop and/or a slightly faster motor would increase the speed but with a long thin MTB you have to beware of torque roll. I've had to restrict top speed on this Huntsman to 80% of full throttle as it really does fly!

Now here's a really stupid question:

Assuming that model is accurately painted, why would the Italian Navy have the sides and superstructure of the boat camouflaged and the front of the deck painted in white and bright orange stripes?

                    Kevin

Not sure that my memory is correct, I think the Italian air force kept attacking their own navy. The stripes were identification to avoid this. It must have been a gift for the allies too.
