Hi,
New here, so please excuse any lapses in protocol that I might make.
I am resurrecting a mostly completed model of the MV Frank Rayner from Vic Smeed's drawings, but I am puzzled by the plan's colour chart, and I wonder if someone here has made any progress on this issue.
The basic question is that the plans say light grey hull, dark grey rubbing strakes, and black bulwarks; the brief article in Model Maker (July 1956) has the same. But… the article and the thumbnail image that accompanies the plans on myhobbystore show a photograph of the vessel with what looks very much like a black hull, or at the least dark grey, and bulwarks that are much lighter than the hull: red maybe, like the superstructure? Sadly, google images does not throw up a result for this boat.
Whilst on the subject, can anyone refer me to an image or sketch of a a suitable tow hook, because I cannot make sense of the plans for this item.
Thanks, NickN
