Paul is looking into the future

He has another Grandchild on the skyline and is talking about a new boat to celebrate the occasion

The question is……What do we fancy?

What ever it is, we are hoping that a few members of the Forum will join in this time and ……."Build along with Bob"

What about a motorised sailing yacht, based on an existing full size craft?

What about a scaled up version of one of Vic Smeeds models?

What about a dynamic M1 Submarine?

What about one of those exciting Russian things, that skate across the water?

      What about………What?

Come on chaps, let's have a few suggestions

      Bob and Paul

A motorised pram, using the wheels as paddles. A nicely finished silver cross or whatever they are….pinstriped and complete with mesh canopy (so it does not catch the wind).

            Ashley

A motorised pram is not really suitabell for such an important occasion

But what about, going completely daft, and building a Speed boat from Hardboard?

            That'll raise a few eyebrows?

              Bob, three suggestions,

              Hydrofoil

              Hovercraft

              Sternwheeler

                  Hello Bob

I was thinking of something to compliment the Ellie design

But I am still open to suggestions (for a couple of weeks at least)

I can provide advice on installing a Spey 101 from a Buccaneer or a reheated Spey 202 from a Phantom if you really want to push the envelope. I still have a few Rolls Royce installation brochures in the cupboard at work.

We are looking for something simple, like this style……

Hi Bob It may sound daft but I feel something reasonably simple would encourage some of the readers who may feel its beyond their capabilities to start some of the really well designed but complicated drafts from Pauls drawing board

A pretty cruiser ,lines not too complicated maybe with brushless motor which I feel might encourage the younger members to want to build if they were encouraged to even race them (even elder members might want to the same

With Ghost coming along now Paul has crossed checkpoint Charlie.

What about something to stretch your engineering skills!!!!!!

The Condor Hydrofoils, out of the channel islands, 1 hell of a ride when the sea was calm.

Bottom pic ordinary and boring. 3rd last pic bit different but not so much so, top picture a hydrofoil..moderately conventional for a hydrofoil….second one….more like it.

Brunel`s Bertha would be a very interesting boat, fairly conventional but very different as it is as a chain dredger..or drag boat as I believe the more correct term may be. In fact this would suit you Bob.nice sheet iron hull and lots of rivets. Nice big external flywheel and the best bit, laying a chain across or along the lake to demonstrate the principle. It is the sort of thing even i might have a go at..most unusual

                                        Ashley,

I think Bob turned it down when we saw it on Gareth's thread about Shemarah. Still, I agree, should suit any rivet counter, just look at the sheer and lines! And a tapered bow too – can smell the coal, oil and smoke just looking at her.

                                          Hello Kimmo

It's an interesting craft, but it wouldn't be all that popular with the budding modellers

Enclosed is a similar barge, as seen at Etherow and about the same construction and year of build……1850?

                                          Keep 'em coming, Kimmo

                                            HI Bob and Paul

Last picture, Miss Budwiser, powered by a gas turbine, this is more like it!!!! imagine what the ducks would look like down at Etherow, (ready barbqued)

Third picture to close to Ashleys akranoplans, Second picture to close to Ghost, same as the first.

As for Ashleys boat, no challenge.

Found lots of Condor hydrofoil pictures, but my computer wont let me post them???? wait till my son gets back!!!!
