      Hi,

I've just created an album with my scratch built Flak Boat, the Krischan der Grosse. This was my first scratch build, built from a few pictures and a 3×5 inch plan! It was very enjoyable to build, even though I made some mistakes along the way. It is now just about finished – I need to add the range finder and azimuth finders to the lookout position, I also need to add the name to the hull, and I want to add more crew. Ok, there's actually a lot of little things still needed too, like more ammo boxes! Are they ever really done?

Anyway, hope you find it interesting, I'm happy to answer questions about the build.

I think this is the link to the album.

Nice build Hans. Like the idea of the deck fitting using strong magnets and old knife blades that has given me food for thought.

          Thanks for sharing

            Thanks Dave,

Like most people here I try and find a use for old bits and pieces, and these turned out quite well. My deck is has a firm fit, and together with two of these magnet catches I can hold the boat upside down and give it a shake without the deck coming off. Of course this was tested before the finer details were added, just in case!

Hans; A very nice boat and well done for a scratch build without plans. Thats the way i like to build!

Dave P. A word of warning concerning magnets. There are loads out there, and some are ferouciously strong, such that you would ruin any hatches trying to seperate them! ALSO.. being very strong..do not go for small ones as they just pull out of the glue. I bit tricky this.. look at the magnet specs and decide if the potential lifting power is what you need…

Thanks for the warning Ashley. I was aware some magnets are seriously strong but will bear in mind your warnings regarding pulling out of the glue etc.
