I seem to have a huge problem. I've made the base of the wheelhouse out of timber and hardboard top and bottom, now I need to wrap the outside all round with white plastic.

I think the plastic is ABS, small sheets that I was given, one side is wrapped in clear film which can be peeled off.

I've tried super glue but it wont stick even after roughening up the side to be stuck.

Anyone had similar problems and how did you overcome them?

Will I have to resort to Evo stick to make the bond?

As usual any help gratefully received and many thanks.

      Regards

      Mike.

Try a twin pack epoxy like Araldite Rapid its my old standby glue and never lets me down, but don't buy the cheap versions as they tend not to work.

Double sided tape might be the answer, many of them are permanent and waterproof.

                  Hello chaps

Thanks for the suggestions. Double sided carpet tape, tried it but didn't like the result, thought with the sunshine making things too hot that it might in the long term fail. Araldite rapid was something I thought about but I've gone back to Super glue the thick stuff, very heavy scoreing with the craft knife to both surfaces and held down with masking tape 'till the morning, with fingers crossed

Ashley are you an advocate of HARDBOARD? I've read several things you've written, most interesting and entertaining. So do hardboard usere get abuse? Mine was the posh stuff, covered with melamine but it wont be seen when the project is finished.

                  Thanks to all who replied.

                  Kind regards

                  Mike

Why not Evo-Stick? It's what I always use for laminating wood and sheet plastic.

Carpet tape is a bit crude. There are lots of industrial type tapes about. They are used to stick aircraft together so should be adequate for models!

                        Hi Mike

Would have used Evo-Stick but only have the impact variety and the job wouldn't accept a bit of hammering for the impacting.

                        Colin

Not at all familiar with double sided tapes except for the carpet one, will look into this for future references.

                        Thanks again for the input.

It's the impact variety that I use.

                            Hi all

Success with the glueing this morning, now for the interesting bit 42 windows and several compound angles to cut out and glue up………..wish I had a CNC router and knew how to use it.

Thanks again for the input chaps.

                            Regards.

                            Mike.
