Have started a chinese junk using builders skip items ,

a nice peice of cedder riped down planks for hull , 1/4 ply bulkheads,

coffee stirres deck on 1/8 ply bamboo scewers for sail battens,

sails drafting film, more pictures to follow cheers Larry..

pictures of build , cedder as a nice naterual finish, decks well weathered,

sails acrylic paint finish, will have a pretty bashed up look ,

where never the smartes of craft , this will take on a pirate look cheers Larry..

and a very nice model too Larry….reminds me of a chap I was talking too down Fleetwood lake some years ago……..he had made a very nice model about 60" long and was very proud of the fact that everything was made from items he had ( as he proudly put it) "nicked" from skips he came across on his travels around the area whilst doing his job. "What do you do for a living" I asked………… "Oh ! I'm a motorway police officer," came the reply ………….UMMMMMMmhhh!!!……….and low and behiold, next time I was travelling down the M^ just past Preston I saw him helping a stranded motorist on the hard shoulder, lol………………..so no detriment to you sir.

Larry. that is a superior finish for a junk! I would do nothing to that hull barring several coats of "mahogany" or similar very dark varnish. You couldnt replicate that sort of finish if you tried! dont fill the gaps, fibreglass inside..filling would involve rubbing down and ruin that well used look.

Hi all,

thank you for comments, Ashley that is the hull finish , with a bit more distresing being added later,

and just a hint of coulor, neil thank you for your input, sorry your post i can read on mail

but there is record on forum post , dont no why , but thank you any way ,

work starting on sail servo rig , controled by swiveling masts used the same methord on

BLACK rose pirate ship cheers Larry…

Hi ALL,

Have had ago at finishing JUNK , riged sails and sail servo ,

a bit of paint work and deck detail , awaiting rudder and some deck features, will post pictures ….

Thank you, bit better now but quite there yet,

worked out side this week a bit cooler ; but had come back in doors

thunder storms belting around all day,

so fitted cover deck and winch plus rudder set up , false keel is next,

dagger type as fiited to footys , cheers Larry…

Thank you all for interest and nice comments,

when keel weight is sorted , will get to the lake, pictures will follow ,

but clinic test will be first AUG 6TH …cheers LARRY…

hi , Fitted keel and rudder , ballast test tomorrow i recon 7ozs to keel ,

recruited crew to day , ex footballers , not woth a million ,

now they will have to work riged out in masking tape clothes and a bit of acrilic paint ,
