          Hello Phil

Ten inches long is a bit small for a boat plan

What type of model are you after?

          Bob

Yes it is very small and I have found nothing of that size so far.

I have just finished building my first model boat an aerokits sea nymph from the vintage model boat company. This is already a small model but still needs a lake to operate in. I wanted somthing even smaller for my lad to play with at home in the bath an in his paddle pool. It would not be rc but just a floating toy.

I may have to draw up somthing myself. If I do it will just be a smaller sea nymph

Phil. Making a small sea nimf may be a bit tricky, getting it to float with some degree of stability in rough waters.

I might suggest something with a flat bottom.. how about a civilian ferry, or a tank landing craft..so that his favourite cars/tanks can be put inside? or a cross channel type ferry, or a catamaran of some sort. These are fairly simple shapes.

Something along the lines of my "Devastation" could have the hull cut from a single piece of styrofoam, for instance, and if propulsion were needed, you could fit a submarine power unit underneath to power any of them..a little self contained "torpedo" that fastens on the underside..acts as a keel as well !!

Have a look at, for instance http://www.hobby.uk.com. They do some good stuff, and a range of "junior kits" that might suit the bill.

Everyone who makes model boats should have a link to hobby`s on their favourites! dead useful.

                Hello Phil

Have look at eezebuilt plans on this site http://eezebilt.hobby-site.com/

all on pdf format ………………. or go to local toy shop and buy one there …

or knock one up like a boat shape and let the lad have a input……

                cheers Larry………

How about a Springer tug? Very easy and cheap to build. The actual size is 18" long X 8" beam, so just halve the size. There are plenty of examples on the Internet.. See the Modelboatmayhem site for the plans.

                        Hi Phil

I think it was Glynn Guest who wrote a book with 9 small models to build, all very easy but looked the part, Knocker White tug being one of them, also there is a build on Mayhem at the moment "Dusty Miller" another small build , I am sure that most of these all come withn 10-11 inches and would all be very suitable for bath, small pool and big lakes (Might need to make some more waterproof for the latter.

Yes found the book was correct Glynn Guest
