Its funny, as I understand it the Flatiron was made by Armstrong`s or someone simply to test cannon out originally, just a mobile test-bed-never intended to be a naval vessel -instead of having a land type range…simply sail to an empty bit of sea and Bob`s your uncle.. instant range. HOWEVER the navy, or at least, government saw it as a cheap way of getting big guns at sea.

On the cheap..nothing really changes eh?

The subject would make an interesting model?

A big gun would be nice too!…..Especially with plenty of smoke!

A bit more done , scratch building hull plating styrene , deck ikea blind,
cabins syrene and card , gun scrap box bits ,
next is a pair of life boats and the dericks ,
                          and loads of deck clutter,
bit of a challenge doing lugonda paddle boat a long side ,
both a bit complex , but enjoying the builds……..LARRY…

Sir..to achieve the rivet markings, there is an easy way..take some white PVA glue, and leave in a saucer for 10 minutes …then it will become thicker..take a tooth pick, with sharp tip, and dip in to the glue, and draw a line, on your crafts, that you want to add rivets, then touch the tip of the tooth pick, on the line, leaving a little blob of gule, on line..repeat to full length..wait to dry..check the protution is suffice to your scale and needs..if found too shallow, repeat the same procedure on same protution..then allow to dry..thus can make a good rivet detail..after painting highlight it with a little silver paint, by drybrushing..will be stunning…

your craft is stunning..Sir..its too inspiring to make one…ahah…thanks for sharing..have a nice day..
